In early July we spent an evening goofing around on Grimes Creek, off Highway 21 north of Boise. We were mostly just enjoying a family outing to relax and play around in the water, but of course couldn’t help but give the birds part of our attention as well.

As we splashed our toes in the water we had a Dusky Flycatcher zip by, lots of Cedar Waxwings, and of course a handful of Song Sparrows.

On the drive home we saw lots more fun birds along the river, including this Spotted Sandpiper, and a family of young Common Mergansers.
