Both bluebirds on the Prairie Loop

On March 22 we drove the Prairie Loop to check what the bluebird numbers were like so far this year. It was a beautiful day, the roads were clear for the entire loop, and we had a great time.

We found both Mountain and Western Bluebirds, and both in fairly good numbers. No where near the volume we’ll see later in the year, but pretty good for mid-March.

When we dropped down from Prairie to the South Fork of the Boise River, we had decent birds for the time of the year, including several American Dippers, lots of Common Mergansers, and a pair of Common Goldeneyes, among others.
